The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has demanded of the Governor State Bank of Pakistan to issue directions to the National Bank of Pakistan for acceptance of Pay Order or Demand Draft by its booth at Wagha Border instead of asking for cash payment.
In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, the LCCI Senior Vice President Ijaz A Mumtaz, Vice President Faisal Iqbal Sheikh and Convenor LCCI Standing Committee on Pak-India Business Promotion Aftab Ahmad Vohra said that Pay Order or the Demand Draft are nationally and internationally acceptable instruments but NBP officials at Wagha booth only accept cash which is very difficult to carry owing to bad law and order situation. They said that the State Bank of Pakistan should direct the NBP high-ups to ensure the acceptance of Pay Order or Demand Draft at NBP Wagha booth to facilitate the importers.
