President Pakistan Muslim League PML-Q Like-minded group Senator Salim Saifullah Khan on Wednesday met with the French Ambassador Daniel Jouanneau and criticised the discriminatory French laws against Muslim women covering their heads.
He said that that such discriminatory laws were badly hurting the feelings of Muslims across the globe. According to a statement issued here, Khan expressed these views in a meeting with the French ambassador who called on him.
He said that Pakistan had rendered maximum sacrifices in the fight against terrorism while its infrastructure of $38 billion had also been destroyed. The western nations still had doubts about the commitment and conviction of Pakistan in this war, he added.
While expressing his apprehension of more anti-western sentiments across the Muslim world, Khan said that there were already anti-west feelings within the Muslim World. Moreover, such biased laws would further hurt the feelings of the moderate Muslims while the extremists would gain more support, he said.
He said the legislation preventing the Muslim women from wearing scarves would also become an obstacle in performing their religious customs. Jouanneau said France was the country, which hosts Pakistanis more than any European nation and millions of Muslims were living in France. Terming the recent visit of Khan to Brussels as 'useful', the he said such bilateral visits could prove helpful in bridging the gaps between the nations.
