08 Feb, 2010

The Town Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Wasey Jalil has said that city government laid the network of roads even in areas where there had been no concept of roads. In order to divert the traffic, new and short routes have been constructed so that traffic flow continues besides facilitating the people and saving of their time.
He stated this while inaugurating the roads constructed in UC-11 Railway and Commissioner Society and UC-4 Nishtar Basti. He inaugurated the roads constructed in UC-11 at a cost of Rs 11.5 million and in UC-4 at a cost of Rs 4.5 million. These areas were without roads earlier.
Wasey Jalil said the city government carried out such development measures, which were not even conceived by anyone earlier, and there had been no concept of projects like quality roads, flyovers, underpasses and pedestrian bridges. He said this tradition was established by Haq Parast and gave the Karachiites their due right.
The Town Nazim also inaugurated clean water supply lines in Issa Nagri and Munnoo Goth laid at a cost of Rs 12.50 million. The existing lines were 7 feet under the surface and had started sagging as a result of which the residents were receiving water contaminated by sewerage and their children kept suffering from health injurious water. Taking notice of this situation, the Town Nazim got all the lines replaced with new lines.
The pumping station in Issa Nagri, which was non-functional for several years because of non supply of power, was made functional with restoration of electricity with installation of a PMT and installation of two pumping motors of 60 hp.
Town Nazim said that a number of steps have been taken to ensure supply of clean water and supplies also made possible in areas where it was impossible to reach. He appealed to people to keep vigil on those who draw illegal connections so that water is saved from contamination.
