Tevta bill rejected

09 Feb, 2010

Punjab Association of Instructors, All Pakistan Clerks Association, and other associations of technical institutes have rejected the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta)-2010 bill, describing it as 'unilateral'.
Students, teachers and instructors of technical institutions on Monday organised a big rally, which ended at Multan Press Club. It was led by Nazar Abbas Khokhar, President, Touseef Ahmed, Secretary General, M.Ramzan Ameen SVP, M.Taseer Naz, Qadeer Ahmed Chaudhry, and Amjad Mehmood Baloch Vice Presidents.
They said that this bill was tabled in Punjab Assembly without taking the stakeholders into confidence. It was also not debated in the house, which is a negation of parliamentary norms. They alleged that this bill was another NRO of Punjab government, which would provide shelter to embezzlement of billions of rupees in this authority during previous and present government. They said that there would be complete lockout in the professional technical and training institutes besides launching a protest drive in the province.
