The spell of rainfall is in progress for the last two days in Industrial City, which has triggered the intensity of the winter, while late spell of rain will be beneficial for cultivated rain-fed crops in whole Punjab, said the agriculture scientists.
The weather has turned pleasant as a result of two-day intermittent showers in the industrial city. The citizens were not using warm clothes, as the mercury had risen with intense sunshine; however, the downpours of last two days caused the cold to increase with low temperatures. The recent wet spell in low-laying areas has adversely disrupted the sewerage system especially in New Civil Line area near Iqbal Stadium, where sewerage gutters were chocked and no Wasa man seen in the area.
In Factory area, Sir Syed Town, Allama Iqbal Colony, Dee Type Colony, Khan Model Colony, Dhudiwala, and other areas small drains and gutter-lines have also been chocked while the filthy water, overflowing from them, is stagnant on roads and streets in many districts, peoples pointed out. The citizens have also urged Wasa and FDA authorities to take concrete steps to address the situation.
