Well if one finds T20 cricket a time consuming affair, not to worry as T10 is here.
The 10 over format is set to be launched in the United Arab Emirates in December. The T10 league will be featuring the likes of international stars i.e. Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Misbah ul Haq, India's Virender Sehwag, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and England's Eoin Morgan.
Explaining the concept behind the T10 format, the league ambassador Inzamam ul Haq said it is the latest form of ‘entertainment.’ The ten-over-a-side matches will run for about 90 minutes i.e. 45 minute each side.
“It is basically entertainment similar to the T20 format,” said Inzamam, who was optimistic that the idea would catch on like the T20 format.
“T10 is a step ahead of T20 cricket similar to the 90 minute football game, it will be a great source of entertainment for fans who don’t have the time as well as players,” said Inzamam.
Earlier, the league’s president Salman Iqbal hoped the idea will kick off.
“Everyone has played T-10 cricket on the streets and this will give more fire to cricket and will be a big step forward and people will definitely enjoy it,” said Iqbal, quoted AFP.
