The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Tuesday again sought reply from ministry of sports & culture on a writ petition seeking ban on exhibition of Indian films in protest against exclusion of Pakistani cricketers from Indian Premier League (IPL).
Indian government and its cricket board had extended full co-operation to Pakistani cricket players who had went India to play IPL tournament, as they were granted visas and security clearance certificates. This was informed to the Lahore High Court (LHC) by Pakistan Cricket Board counsel in a petition filed by a citizen Muhammad Hussain who contended that none of our national player was selected for any IPL team as owner all the teams intentionally stayed away from giving bid for them.
The counsel further said the IPL was a privately organised cricket tournament and Indian government had no concern with its affairs. The petitioner contended that this act caused humiliation not only for players but to the whole nation. He said Pakistani government should also hold a cricket league on pattern of IPL so that Pakistani cricketers and fans could get some relief.
He prayed to the court to ban exhibition of Indian films till Indian government seek public apology over humiliation of Pakistani crickets and nation. On previous date of hearing the CJ had sought reply from the ministry of sports & culture but no one appeared on behalf of the ministry on Tuesday. At this the CJ again issued notice to the ministry for March 3.
