Due to an oversight on my part some jottings got into print in place of the last paragraph of Spotlight on Tuesday, 9 February 2010.The missing last para is as under: As the process of "integration" gets underway in earnest, the reactions and responses from the Taliban leadership will become clearer though it will not have any cheer for the Americans and Nato.
India is itching to involve itself in any new redrawing of the strategy map while Pakistan is rightly insisting that only the neighbouring countries should be involved. Another 30,000 American troops are on their way to jump into the fray. The move envisaged by Obama as the key to eventual American success is seen by the Taliban as "broadening of the target", which will make it easier to hit! Things should become clearer in the next few months if not weeks. The moment of truth is probably closer than is generally believed! I regret the oversight.
