Stealing water: India exhibiting eternal enmity with Pakistan: KBP

11 Feb, 2010

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has said that no conflict between the provinces would arise if water distribution agreement 1991, which is a comprehensive document and bear signatures of all the stakeholders, is implemented in letter and spirit.
KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan while talking to a delegation of growers here on Wednesday said that it was unfortunate that India was exhibiting its eternal enmity against Pakistan by stealing its share of river water. At this crucial juncture all the four provinces of Pakistan were also fighting with each other and accusing each other of using their share of water.
He said that this conflict was also heard in the Punjab assembly on Tuesday, which was a matter of great concern for all of us. He said that there was a comprehensive 1991 water distribution accord and chief ministers of all the four provinces, finance ministers Punjab and NWFP, law minister Sindh and interior Minister of Balochistan, adviser to Punjab government, Sindh, NWFP, Secretary Irrigation Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and others were signatory of this document. Sardar Zafar said that implementation on this accord in letter and spirit would save the provinces from fighting. He said that the issues between provinces of Pakistan should be settled before talking to India on water issue.
