Challenging jurisdiction, action of CCP: LHC consolidates three identical petitions

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Thursday consolidated three identical petitions challenging jurisdiction and action of Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) filed by LPG Association, Sugar Mills and Cement Factories. The court also issued notice to Attorney General Pakistan for February 24 and directed petitioner's counsels as well as CCP's counsel to come up with comprehensive arguments on the next date of hearing.
Earlier, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on behalf of LPG Association in his brief arguments said that in the presence of Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) the CCP had no jurisdiction to proceed against the petitioners, LPG supplying companies. Earlier, Chairman CCP Khalid Mirza made his appearance before the court and filed his written reply regarding contempt notice issued to him.
