LHC asks Colonel Ikram's son to furnish media reports

13 Feb, 2010

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday asked the son of late Colonel Ikram (Retd), who was allegedly knocked down by vehicle of former Punjab Chief Secretary, to furnish media reports and footages for proving that he had filed application with police for registration of FIR of the incident. The court adjourned the proceedings of the petition till next date of hearing fixed for February 16.
Petitioner Azam Ikram submitted that former chief secretary's car hit motorcycle of his father in Sarwar Road police limits and the chief secretary, along with his driver Ghulam Murtaza fled from the scene instead of taking his father to hospital. He said if his father had been taken to hospital timely he might have survived. He said the police were also not listening to their complaint, as they were reluctant to implicate top bureaucrat in the case.
Petitioner pointed out that the police registered the case on its own and ignored the facts mentioned in his application. He alleged that the act of police was based on mala fide intention and intended to favour the former CS. He prayed to the court to direct the concerned police officials to lodge FIR in the light of his application against the former CS and his driver.
