Part of 'Clean Punjab' plan started in Faisalabad

On the directions of Punjab government regarding 'Clean Punjab Programme', the Faisalabad district administration has launched a comprehensive campaign for cleaning the industrial city, removal of encroachments and maintenance of green belts. This was stated by DCO Saeed Wahlah in a meeting.
He said that collaborative measures were being made by the solid waste management department, TMAs, WASA, Parks and Horticulture Agency, roads and irrigation departments for lifting the debris, garbage, silt, removing encroachments and clearance of green belts and parks. He said that focal persons had been nominated of the concerned department who co-ordinate the efforts in this regard.
The DCO said that in the first phase the main roads of the city had been taken up for cleaning campaign while the towns would be taken up in the second phase. The important roads Sargodha Road, Millat Road, Jaranwala Road, Satiana Road, D Type Gole, Samundri Road, Jhang Road, Narwala Road, Canal Road, Sarwala Rajba Road, Circular Road, Eidgah Road, Liaqat Road, Jhumra Road and Kashmir Road have been selected for cleaning during the campaign and this task would be completed by 23 February 2010.
Meanwhile, incharge cleanliness campaign programme EDO IT Ashiq Dogar said that the cleanliness campaign had been started immediately after having the direction from DCO Saeed Wahlah, and sanitary staff, along with relevant machinery, were busy to clean the Shiekhupura Road and Millat Road. He said that the solid waste management officers were supervising the cleanliness campaign for achieving the targets of clean Punjab programme. Later on he himself inspected the cleanliness of roads on the spot and issued necessary directions to the staff for quality work.
