Rise in 'dumping' of new-born babies: Chhipa expresses concern

16 Feb, 2010

A social worker Ramzan Chhipa has expressed concern at what he termed `surge in the dumping of the new born babies'. In this connection, Ramzan Chhipa held a meeting, said a statement of the Chhipa Welfare Association. The meeting revealed that in a month's time, 5 bodies of new-born babies were retrieved from the 'Kachra Kundis' (garbage bins) and `Nallahs' (drainage lines).
These were badly mauled by animals and birds. Ramzan Chhipa said that there are quite a number of childless couples who are willing to adopt such babies. Many of the new-born babies have been handed over to childless couples, he added. Chhipa appealed to the people not to commit such `homicide' and instead, leave such babies quietly at the cots installed at Chhipa Emergency Centres.
