17 Feb, 2010

Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that the memorial to be constructed at the Light House would be a symbol of shia-sunni unity and cohesion and would keep refreshing the memories of all the Muslims martyred on Ashura day. He was talking to the media after laying the foundation stone of the memorial near the Light House, on Monday.
Nazim Karachi Mustafa Kamal dedicated the memorial to the Muslims and human beings as not only shia and sunnis but even non-Muslims were also killed, and the memorial will remind the coming generations of this fact.
Kamal said the memorial will be completed in 4 months and will be inscribed with the names of all the deceased. He said (arrangements of funds) would not be of problem and whatever cost the memorial takes, will be borne by the city government. He directed the EDO, Works and Services to start work on the memorial forthwith.
Replying to a question, he said that it is his wish that the journey of development started by them (CDGK) continues and he would be delighted if a sapling planted by him becomes a fully blossomed tree. He did not agree that the journey of development can suffer an impediment with anyone's coming or going as in this era of media, no one can take a U-turn on development.
"Development is a process of continuity and the nations who stop it considering that it has completed, die their own death", Kamal said adding that should anyone try to take a U-turn on development, the media and people would themselves hold him accountable. Town Nazim Saddar Mohammed Dilawar, DCO Javed Hanif, EDOs Municipal Services and Works and Services, health and other officials were also present on the occasion.
