The funeral prayer of the injured District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu Iqbal Marwat who breathed his last on Wednesday was held here at police lines. The DPO sustained serious injuries in the February 11 suicide attack on police lines Bannu and was under treatment in CMH Rawalpindi.
NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani, civil and high officials of the police department attended the last rituals of the Shaheed police officer. On this occasion, strict security measures were taken and extra contingents of law enforcers were deployed to avert any eventuality.
Meanwhile, NWFP Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani has paid rich tributes to the Shaheed DPO Iqbal Marwat saying that the entire nation would remember the great sacrifice of this brave and valiant police officer. In a press statement here on Thursday, the Governor said that mothers of such brave officers and youth also deserved glorious tributes and extended heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family members.
He held an assurance to the affected families that extremist element involved in heinous crimes would never go scot-free and would be awarded exemplary punishment. The Governor prayed Allah Almighty for the eternal blessings of the deceased and for grant of patience to the affected family to bear this irreparable loss.
