The issue of renaming the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) has not been resolved yet between Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Awami National Party (ANP) leaderships. This was stated by Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Minister for Railways, while talking to media persons here on Friday.
"The PML-N has some political compulsions, as some people of Hazara Division are not in favour of the names proposed by ANP," he said. He said that the ANP had suggested names for NWFP, as Pakhtunkhwa, Afghania and Pukhtoonistan, whereas the PML-N called for a new name after evolving consensus among all communities living in the province.
"In the name of Pakistan, the letter 'A' stands for Afghania," he said, adding that all the three names proposed by ANP had historical background. He said that ANP and PML-N were moving ahead and expected to build up consensus soon to resolve the issue.
