PHSADC to participate in arms exhibitions

Pakistan Hunting and Sporting Arms Development Company (PHSADC) will participate in hunting and sporting arms exhibitions in Germany and Ukraine. The Germany exhibition will be held in March 2010 while the exhibition in Ukraine is scheduled for August. The company has received invitations from both the organisers of the exhibitions.
In this connection, the company on Wednesday displayed sporting arms including Damascus-Knives, daggers, TT Pistols and accessories in the company office in Hayatabad. The objective of the display was to get feedback from people. A large number of company officials were also present on the occasion. Chairman PHSADC, Noman Wazir said that the purpose of the establishment of the company was the promotion of arms manufacturing industry.
Mohammad Tariq, Chief Operating Officer (COO) informed the participants that the company through its Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) on Kohat Road was providing Common Facility and Training while another such kind of facility has been worked out for Dir. He said that beside Dara Adam Khel, the NWFP had 27 small arms manufacturing units, but no institution is available for their facilitation. In CFC, the company was imparting training through CNC machine to both current workers and new comers.
The company was working on the revival of the knives-manufacturing cluster of Dir to bring them at par with the clusters of Gujranwala and Wazirabad, he said. For this purpose, he said that the company was going to establish a CFC and outreach office in Dir. Later, the participants visited the exhibition, where the locally produced pistols, Damascus knives, daggers and accessories including cartridges and gun cases were on display.
