20 Feb, 2010

The local administration has mobilised 55 raiding teams of police, revenue officers, TMO and other staff to take action against kite-flying during an unannounced Basant in Faisalabad. DCO Saeed Wahla chaired a meeting here on Friday to discuss the issue. He constituted teams to launch an operation against kite-flyers, firing into the air and loud playing of music.
He said the administration had also launched a crackdown on manufacturers and sellers of kite. He said 235 accused had been arrested during the last 24 days, while cases were also registered against another 220 involved in violating government directions.
He appealed to the general public, especially parents, to stop their children from flying kite and firing into the air or face action.
