An appeal to independent judiciary

21 Feb, 2010

This is with reference to the recent capture of so many terrorists involved in suicide bombings and the killing of innocent people in Pakistan by the intelligence agencies. They are mostly from Swat, Fata and also from all other parts of Pakistan. These terrorists have played havoc with the lives of the common people.
Approximately, more than two thousand innocent people have been killed by these inhuman characters. I am sure that the superior judiciary also understands that the biggest problem is terrorism and the rest comes afterwards. Terrorism is continuing in Pakistan because terrorists are never given punishment so this encourages them.
I have rarely heard that terrorists or a sectarian killer is given the death sentence, except for very few and even they are not executed. I appeal to the superior judiciary to press the government for bringing them to the court and ultimately handing over severe punishment speedily.
We have to learn lessons from Iran, their agencies quickly catch the terrorists who are dealt with on priority basis in the courts and after the trial, handed over for punishment as declared in the verdict. Terrorism cases should be dealt with on a priority basis and given capital punishment. This action of the courts will help buildup the confidence of the superior judiciary, otherwise people will remain sceptical.
