'Work on wide-ranging programme soon'

NWFP Minister for Labour Sher Azam Wazir has said that PPP government has a wide-ranging programme to serve the masses inline with its revolutionary vision and has therefore initiated many mega uplift projects for the welfare of the masses. He said construction work on mega projects including Basha and Diamir dams would be initiated this year that would help generate 4,500 megawatt of electricity and resolve the ongoing power crises to a great extend.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, Provincial Minister said that over 500,000 labourers had been provided free shares in 80 big organisations of the country under Benazir Stock Shares Option Scheme, which had set a unique precedent by making the labourers shareholders in their companies.
He said the historic step of the government to provide 12 percent share to the labourers in their companies had been taken to give the sense of ownership to the poor community of the labourers and to enhance industrial produce. Moreover, he continued that the PPP government was also focusing on providing better healthcare facilities to the labourers families and many projects including setting up of 100 bedded latest Burn and Trauma Centre in the provincial capital was in the pipeline.
Sher Azam Wazir said construction work would be shortly initiated on the Burn and Trauma Centre, adding that Poly Clinic Hospital equipped with modern facilities was also providing treatment facilities to the labourers' community in Peshawar.
In view of the particular law and order situation in the NWFP, the Federal government has assured to provide Rs 24 billion funds to the militancy hit province out of which six billion rupees has already been provided, whereas six billion rupees would be released soon. He said the government was fully aware of the problems of the masses and was working on a concrete policy to address these issues and provide relief to the people.
