Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that Islamabad Police have set new trends of modern and people-friendly policing and has emerged as a driving force for provinces, besides fighting terrorism successfully.
"If police all over Pakistan will set the standard of Islamabad Police it will bring the crime rate to the lowest ebb and create sense of security among peopl," Raisani was addressing the officers and officials of Islamabad Police during his visit to Police Line Headquarters Islamabad for paying tributes to the martyred officials of Islamabad police who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
He visited the monuments of martyrs established at police line headquarters and laid floral wreaths. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam, SSP Headquarters Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, DSP Headquarters Muhammad Ashraf Shah and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police in countering the menace of terrorism and termed the force very brilliant and professional. He was given a detailed briefing about the sacrifices of Islamabad police in countering several challenges including terrorism.
In his briefing, the IGP Islamabad Kaleem Imam said there was no alternate to life, however, Islamabad police was making utmost efforts to financially support the families of martyred policemen. Islamabad Police had also provided jobs to the children of martyred personnel and supported the wounded cops who averted various threats by putting their own lives at stake, he maintained.
Foreign dignitaries and important personalities visited the Police Line Headquarters to pay tribute to the martyrs, Imam said, adding that they felt very happy to see among them the chief minister whose visit was an acknowledgement to the services of Islamabad police.
Later, talking to journalists, the IGP said that there was positive advancement in tracing the criminals involved in blasts at Islamic International University. "We have got some important clues in this regard and also the attempts of target killings. Everything would be disclosed to media on completion of investigation", he opined.
To another query, the IGP said that three points, Tarnol, Golra and Rawat have been identified for installation of explosive detecting scanners and these would be made operative soon. The IGP said that three small explosive detectors are also operating in the city. On the occasion, he also renewed his commitment to face the challenges with bravery and to make Islamabad a peaceful city through efforts of Capital Police.
