The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Front Association (PIAF) has termed the cut in the petroleum prices as an eyewash and urged the government to curtail the number of taxes on petroleum products. The PIAF Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, in a statement issued here on Monday, said the government should curtail the number of taxes and duties on petroleum products if it wants to facilitate the masses.
Sheikh pointed that the government has increased the prices of petroleum products by over Rs 10 since December 2009 whereas the decrease was only of 64 paisa, which is a sheer injustice with the masses. There is a dire need to revise the prices downward so the business-doing people could be able to feel some relief, he added. He urged upon the government to decrease the petroleum prices, keeping in view the whole scenario.
