LDA retrieves 10 plots at Johar town

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday retrieved 10 prime location plots at Johar Town. According to a LDA's spokesman, during the operation LDA Estate Management-I and Enforcement Directorates' staff retrieved five plots, each measured five marlas, while another five that measured 10 marlas, on which squatters, shops and other illegal structures had been raised.
The total cost of the H-II Block five-marla plots, bearing numbers 198, 199, 233 to 235 and 10-marla bearing numbers from 241 to 245, is estimated to be in millions of rupees. The LDA's anti-encroachment drive is going on in localities under its control and utility area of private housing schemes with a view to purging these vicinities of illegal structures and other disorders that create hurdles in pedestrians' movement, smooth flow of traffic as well as quick disposal of stagnant water from roads.
Meanwhile, a LDA spokesman has urged residents of housing schemes under its control for voluntarily dismantling all encroachments without further delay, failing which they will have to bear the demolition charges as well.
