The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday disposed of petition seeking ban on exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan in protest to exclusion of Pakistani cricketers from Indian Premier League (IPL). The court directed the petitioner to approach the concerned authorities for redressal of his grievance.
The court however observed, "It's a blessing in disguise that the Pakistani cricket players were not selected in IPL considering the pathetic performance of Pakistani team during its matches in Australia."
The petition was filed by Muhammad Hussain, a citizen, who through his counsel Ishtiaq Ahmed Chaudhry contended that Pakistan was the world champion in T20 cricket but ironically none of our national players were selected by any IPL team, as owners of all teams intentionally stayed away from bidding for them. Petitioner said that this act caused great humiliation not only for players but to the whole nation while the Indian films were being exhibited throughout the country.
