Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that the Punjab government has released Rs 136 billion for development projects in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of MPAs here on Tuesday, disclosed an official.
He said that the government is implementing an effective monitoring system to speed up the work on development projects so that public welfare oriented projects could be completed on time. "It has ensured timely release of funds for the development project and in this connection the finance department has been directed.
Also, review meetings are regularly held every month to monitor the pace of work on development projects," he added. The minister said concerned departments are being ensured that released funds are utilised timely on development projects and also quality of work is ensured.
He said a mechanism has been placed for removing any hurdle regarding implementation on development projects. "The responsibility to monitor the development projects has been shifted to the divisional commissioners and whole system from identification to execution of development schemes has been decentralised so that development projects could be reviewed on the spot by the concerned authorities," he added.
