The profit after tax of Unilever Pakistan has increased to Rs 3,056 million in the year ended December 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 1,984 million earned in the corresponding period in 2008. The company's earning per share surged to Rs 230 in the period under review against Rs 149 in the same period a year back. The board of directors of the company in its meeting held here on Tuesday recommended a final cash dividend of Rs 137 per share.
With the interim dividend of Rs 92 per share already paid during the year, the total dividend for the year 2009 amounts to Rs 229 per ordinary share of Rs 50 each against a cash dividend of Rs 123 per share paid in the year 2008. According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's sales increased to Rs 38,188 million against Rs 30,957 million while the cost of sales increased to Rs 24,853 million against Rs 20.219 million. The company's profit before taxation increased to Rs 4,516 million in 2009 against Rs 2,925 million in 2008.
