Senior Advisor to Chief Minister, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that present government is promoting good governance in the province while transparent utilisation of each penny is being ensured. He said this during a meeting with 6-member delegation of the European Commission to Pakistan that led by Louise Kornung Political Attache European Union, called on him here on Wednesday.
Khosa said that national resources were looted ruthlessly in the name of development projects in the past during dictatorial rule, merit was trampled, nepotism and corruption were promoted and no development project was completed on time. He said that national exchequer was caused loss of billion of rupees in delaying development projects and on the name of devolution of powers but the present government is ensuring timely, quality and transparent completion of development projects besides reforming the local government system.
He said that measures are being taken by the Punjab Government for the development in education, health and agriculture sectors as well as improving the law and order situation. He said that Danish Schools are being established to provide quality education to the students. He said that education, textbooks, uniform and boarding facilities would be made available to the students free of cost in Danish Schools.
He said that on the instruction of Punjab Chief Minister, Special Endowment Fund has been established for the deserving intelligent students. He said that due to these reforms, terrorism and militancy could be wiped out from the society as the people of remote areas could get education in these standardised educational institutions.
He said that improvement of education, health, agriculture, livestock, infrastructure and various sectors of social development are our top priorities and huge resources are being spent for the development of these sectors. He said that agriculture is backbone of our economy and government is taking solid steps for increasing the agriculture production and prosperity of the farmers.
He said that agri-equipment on concessional rates and tractors are being provided to the farmers through subsidy. Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa said that billions of rupees is being provided to the remote districts of Southern Punjab for the socio-economic uplift of people. He said that to prevent the terrorist attacks modern equipment has been provided to the law enforcement agencies besides imparting special training to them.
He said law and order situation is being monitored at provincial, divisional and district level. The delegation was further informed that check-posts have been set up on various rivers besides borders districts. He said that latest detectors have been provided on these check-posts.
