The Accountability Court on Monday declared Hussain and Hassan Nawaz as ‘absconder’ after they failed to present themselves in court despite repetitive summon from the court regarding corruption references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Final arrest warrants have been issued for Hassan and Hussain who will be conducted separately in court. The proceedings will be conducted regarding the three references filed against them, Geo News reported. Maryam Nawaz while speaking to media said, “My brothers live abroad and the laws of Pakistan do not apply to them,” she said.
The former PM’s daughter also said that while her family is arrested on airport when they voluntarily appear before the court, there are some absconders who are never arrested even when they evade courts and hold public gatherings.
On the request of Khawaja Harris, Nawaz Sharif’s counsel, the court approved Sharif’s exemption from appearing at court on Monday. Nawaz is currently in London with wife who is undergoing medical treatment. The medical report of Nawaz’s sick wife Kulsoom was also presented to court by Harris.
Maryam Nawaz and husband Capt Safdar had been released earlier after each submitted surety bonds of 50 lacs. Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar will likely face indictment on the next hearing whether Sharif is present or not in court.
