A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to review the pace of implementation of the project of Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences (PINS), at Chief Minster's Secretariat, on Thursday.
Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries of Health, Finance, Communication & Works, Special Secretary Health, Principal Lahore General Hospital Dr Rashid Lateef, Dr Naeem-ud-Din as well as other senior officers concerned were present. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that under-construction building of Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences at General Hospital, Lahore should be completed immediately so that modern treatment facilities could be provided to the patients suffering from neuro diseases at the state-of-the-art Institute of Neuro Sciences.
He said that precious human lives were lost due to head injuries in accidents, therefore, provision of a helicopter for shifting such patients to the institute should also be considered as nothing could be more important than saving human lives. He said the patients and their attendants face serious problems due to haphazard traffic near General Hospital at Ferozepur Road, therefore, the project of construction of an underpass at Ghazi Chowk should be evolved and initiated at the earliest.
He said that uplift of health sector and provision of modern treatment facilities to masses was the priority of the government and all out resources were being utilised for this purpose. He said that new hospitals were being set up in the province while rural and basic health centres were being upgraded.
