'New culture to enhance revenue imperative'

Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that it is imperative to promote new culture for enhancing revenue of province and ratio of various taxes should be made according to market base so that maximum resources could be collected and used for the welfare of public.
While talking to media here on Saturday, the Minister said a tax policy unit would be set-up in Board of Revenue so that maximum facilities could be provided to tax-payees. He also said tax collection system should be more effective and simple so that maximum people could be accommodated. "Excise and Taxation Department and Board of Revenue has been directed to work hard to achieve the revenue targets fixed by the government and it is essential to adjust the current ratio of various taxes according to market base," he added.
He averred that E&T department has launched a drive for collecting token tax. "The Punjab government would get more shares under NFC Award in the forthcoming fiscal year and we would use these extra resources for the betterment of the people of the province," he added.
