Book launching ceremony: strategic thinking in military, social environment underlined

Former Chief of Army Staff General Jahangir Karamat has said that there is a need of strategic thinking in military as well as in social environment. He said that the people who are in the helm of affairs never focused on strategic thinking.
He was speaking on the book launching ceremony of "1947 Before-During-After-Memories of a Soldier" by Major General Syed Wajahat Hussain (Retd) organised by The English Speaking Union of Pakistan's Lahore Chapter in association with Ferozesons (PVT) Limited on Saturday. He also stressed upon the economists, bankers and co-operate people to focus on the strategic thinking.
He called the book a great book and he used the direct style to express his thinking which is his hallmark. Former Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Javed Iqbal has said there are two reasons for which book should be read one is the description of the formative years of the Pakistan army and the epilogue of the book, which is excellently written.
He said that it is the book which describes the events from partition and the events which covers the era of Zia - Bhutto controversy, period of General Ayub and Sikandar Mirza. He said in his book he also shares his experiences as a member of the boundary commission.
Former finance minister Sartaj Aziz has said that the book contains exciting photographs of early years of Pakistan. He said that Wajahat Hussain points out the strong and weak points of Pakistan's strategy in 1965 and 1971 war. Renowned Author Hassan Askari Rizvi said that book gave a complete detail of the Islamisation of Pakistan Army during Zia era. Vice Admiral Syed Iqtidar Hussain (Retd), M D Ferozesons Zaheer Salam also spoke on the occasion.
