Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has acknowledged the role of civil defence in present critical situation and assured to extend all possible resources to strengthen the civil defence department in the province. He was addressing a seminar here at Al-Hamra Hall on Saturday.
Chairman Taskforce on civil defence Major Rana Abdul-Rehman (Retd) MPA, Chief Warden Sargodha Haroon Rashid, Secretary Home Nadeem Hassan Asif, Director Civil Defence Meraj Anees Arif, DCO Lahore were also present on the occasion. Khosa said that country was passing through a critical phase because enemy wants to weaken it.
However, law enforcement agencies are on high alert and utilising all resources to maintain law and order in the province. He said in this situation the role of civil defence personnel was appreciable and the government would provide all possible resources to strengthen civil defence department in the province.
Militancy and terrorism would be completely wiped out from the country as the law enforcement agencies were making full efforts to foil the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements. In this challenging situation, the role of civil defence wardens had gained importance, as every citizen of civil society has to play due role in this national social service, he added.
Khosa said that there should be chief warden of civil defence at provincial level, whereas, the government would also solve the problems being faced by the civil defence volunteers. He said that people should become civil defence volunteers as a mission to serve the country.
