12 Mar, 2010

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday submitted a report with the Supreme Court, saying that a committee headed by the Attorney General for Pakistan has summoned its Prosecutor General Dr Danishwar Malik for March 18 over his removal issue.
The report was filed as per the directive of apex court on behalf of acting chairman NAB. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed displeasure over non-implementation of its orders while conducting proceedings in Bankers City scam case.
A larger bench of the Supreme Court in its verdict on NRO on December 16 had directed for removal of the NAB prosecutor general and additional prosecutor general. The report maintains that Dr Malik has been summoned to appear before a committee and plead his case against his removal. All steps are also being taken to proceed in NRO cases under the apex court's direction, the report adds. A three-member bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal will take up Bankers City case (today) Friday.
