'PPP believes in democracy'

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) believes in democracy and will take an active part in the forthcoming local bodies elections and would field its candidates on all union council seats. She said that history of PPP is replete with supreme sacrifices for democracy.
She said that PPP wants to change the destiny of the nation in the light of political vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and strengthen national institutions. Talking to various delegations of people, Neelam Jabbar Ch. said that President Asif Ali Zardari wants to strengthen institutions. She said that terrorism will be completely rooted out and Pakistan will be made a peaceful and democratic country under the leadership of President Zardari. She said that general elections would be held after completion of the constitutional tenure of the present government therefore, political parties that boycotted general elections of 2008 should wait for another three years and refrain from creating hurdles in the democratic process. Such political parties should join political and democratic system by contesting local bodies' elections, she added.
