Barring some essential commodities' prices depicted modest fluctuations

The rising trend was marked in some essential items, while other items showed modest fluctuations either ways during the week ended on March 13, 2010. Kirana items at Jodia Bazaar on the week opening day depicted rise in black pepper from Singapore by Rs 100 to Rs 9,900 black pepper from Ceylon rose by same amount to Rs 9,900.
Mace was reported down by Rs 1200 to Rs 40,800, nutmeg ended lower by Rs 200 to Rs 19800, big cardamom rose by Rs 700 to Rs 34,000. copra from India ended higher by Rs 100 to Rs 4200. Saunf scaled higher by Rs 400 to Rs 7000. Sogo rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2450, star aniseed rose by Rs 200 to Rs 14,000, cuminseed went up by Rs 400 to Rs 8600, darchini rose Rs 100 to Rs 4600, carrianderseed shed Rs 200 to Rs 2800. Cooking oil rates Mezan 5 liter Rs 460, Mezan 16 liter Rs 1850, Habib 5 liter 702, Dalda 5 liter 703, Soya supreme 5 liter Rs 681, Ghee: Mezan 5 Kilo Rs 630, Mezan 16 Kilo Rs 1820, Habib 5 Kilo Rs 689, Dalda, 5 kilo Rs 693, and Soya supreme 5 Kilo Rs 671. On the cereals side gur went down by Rs 100 to Rs 5600 -6000 and khandsari ended lower quoted at Rs 800. Rapeseed Nawabshah shed Rs 45 to Rs 1580, while better type lost Rs 100 to Rs 1600. Castorseed Lasbela and Sindh scaled higher by Rs 50 to Rs 1600 and Rs 1500, cotton seed oilcakes with bag low type down by Rs 10 to Rs 1050, while the better type was quoted at Rs 1060.
On Tuesday wheat both bardana supplied by government rose by Rs 85 to Rs 2685, new crop quoted at Rs 2500. Yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2700-2850, yellow peas better type was quoted higher at Rs 2975 while yellow peas dal rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3100.
On Wednesday moong Punjab inferior type lost Rs 150 to Rs 6750 and good type, however, gained Rs 500 to Rs 7500, wheat (government Bardan) lost Rs 35 to Rs 2650. Irri-6 Sindh rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2550, gur best type shed Rs 100 to Rs 5900 while, low type retained the overnight level at Rs 5600 and Khandsari quoted at Rs 7800-8000. Til low type did not show any change at Rs 3900, while the good type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 4100.
On Thursday makai was quoted at higher rate at Rs 1850 and Rs 1875, wheat with bardana new ended lower by Rs 50 to Rs 2450, bajra rose by Rs 150 to Rs 1750, while better type was up by Rs 350 to Rs 2500.
On Jodia Bazaar jute goods twine per kg 20x3 brow ended lower by Rs 3 to Rs 105, 16x3 CRT/ Indus shed also Rs 3 to Rs 105, 8x3 rose by Rs 10 to Rs 200 and 40x2 brow rose by Rs 5 to Rs 100.
On Friday no change was recorded, as most of the players were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Saturday wheat (government Bardana) with bag shed Rs 25 to Rs 2625 and new type also lost the same amount at Rs 2425. Gur low type was down by Rs 100 to Rs 5500 and better type was higher by Rs 300 to Rs 6200. Irri-6 sindh was quoted higher at Rs 2550-2579. Cottonseed oilcake with bag was lower by Rs 100 to Rs 1030-1040.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items closed mixed on Saturday. The variations were: HEMICAL ITEMS (Per kg): Caustic soda flakes Saudi was quoted at Rs 47. Sodium sulphate edged higher by 20 paisa to Rs 12.70. N J Taiwan went down by Re 1 to Rs 172. Formic acid Pak closed lower by Rs 2 to Rs 96, formic acid Germany moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 104, oxalic acid China finished up by Re 1 to Rs 65 and citric acid China was quoted at Rs 86.
