Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that besides transparent and quality completion of development projects, the policy regarding promotion of horticulture should also be implemented and maximum tree plantation should be carried out at development projects as it will add beauty to the projects.
He directed that a comprehensive horticulture plan should be presented to him regarding Lahore Ring Road project. He was presiding over a meeting regarding promotion of horticulture Wednesday. Commissioner Lahore, Director General Punjab Horticulture Authority, Consultant Ahmad Mukhtar, as well as other officers concerned, were present.
The Chief Minister said that infrastructure played a key role in the development of a country, therefore, government was paying special attention to the uplift of this sector.
He said that development projects worth billions of rupees were being executed expeditiously in the province in a highly transparent manner. He said a policy had also been evolved for promoting greenery along the roads, flyovers and underpasses and maximum tree plantation would be undertaken at all development projects in future.
He said that the government had ensured a high standard of development projects and the same policy had been adopted in less developed areas. He said that government was implementing a comprehensive strategy for beautification of cities and provision of a healthy atmosphere to the citizens and in addition to landscaping, beautiful models were also being set up at important places of the cities.
He said that Lahore Ring Road was an important project and package-6 and 7 of the project had been completed in a record period in a transparent manner. He said that Lahore Ring Road Package-6 and 7 were the gateway to the city and maximum plantation should be undertaken at these projects.
He said that horticulture work should be made compulsory at all development projects and private sector should be fully encouraged for this purpose. He said that maximum parks and gardens should be developed for the provision of healthy recreational facilities to the masses. The participants of the meeting gave their proposals regarding promotion of horticulture at development project.
