'All provinces should be united on water issue'

All Parties Conference (APC) was held in the Punjab Assembly under the chairmanship of Senior Minister Raja Riaz here on Thursday which stressed the provinces to be united on water issue within the ambit of Indus Water Distribution Accord.
The APC resolved that keeping in view the integrity of the federation and consensus of four provinces Kala Bagh Dam should be constructed. The APC was attended by Rana Aftab PPP, Nawaz Gondal PDP, Zafar Jamal Baloch, JI, Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamoosh, PDF, Professor Abdul-Rehman Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadees and many others. The delegates suggested that a similar conference on water issues should be organised in the near future.
The APC also brought out the imperative of requirement for harnessing the potential of renewable/hydel energy in order to sustain and support the growth of national economy.
The APC highlighted the need for building new water-storage capability and to take measures for water conservation and improved water management.0 Riaz while addressing a press conference at the assembly premises said that three provinces were against Kala Bagh Dam but it would be constructed only after their approval. He said there were reservations on Indus Water Distribution Treaty and they should be removed.
