22 Mar, 2010

The Karachi Transport Action Committee President, Mohammad Ashraf Banglori, and Chudhry Mazhar Hussain, have demanded of the Sindh government to ensure checking of oil filling machine metres of all petrol pumps in the city so as to end oil theft.
"Many petrol pumps in the city charge all required money from the consumers, but they fill low quantity of petrol in their vehicles, they said in a statement on Sunday.
Owing to no check and balance, the owners of petrol pumps have created faults in oil filling machines to put low quantity of oil and are minting lakhs of rupees on daily basis. The live example of this theft is CNG stations, the leaders said.
The transport leaders said that the government should take notice of the issues being faced by the transport community and take stern action against those petrol pumps, which are stealing the oil of consumers through defected petrol filling machines installed at the petrol pumps.
