Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday took a suo motu notice to provide justice to a widow whose husband was killed by unknown assailants in Karachi in 2007. The Chief Justice took the notice on an application of Kalsoom Akhter, resident of Karachi, stating that her husband was killed in 2007 by unknown killers when he was going to City Courts Karachi, following the exchange of harsh words with Advocate Khawaja Naveed.
Praying for justice, she pointed out that few days before the incident, "there was an exchange of hot words between her husband and advocate Khawaja Naveed." In the application, she informed that she had lodged an FIR on September 10, 2007, but police did not make serious efforts to arrest the accused.
