D&SJ 'judicial inquiry' challenged

25 Mar, 2010

Arrested DSP Imran Babar Jamil has challenged before the Lahore High Court the "Judicial Inquiry" held by District & Sessions Judge (D&SJ) who declared his allegations levelled against two SPs as false. The petitioner contended in his petition that the judicial inquiry was not done according to its legal requirements and appeared to be biased.
He said the sessions judge regretfully revealed his own bias against the petitioner by using various phrases in his inquiry report, which suggested that the report was neither neutral nor objective. The D&SJ did not allow cross-examination on statements of SPs who were accused of pressurising the petitioner for the release of alleged robbers. It is prayed that the Inquiry Report of Sessions Judge be declared to be not having any evidentiary value.
