Non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued by the judicial magistrate against Mufti Abdul Qavi in the murder case of Pakistani actress/model Qandeel Baloch.
Magistrate Pervez Khan has issued warrants against Mufti Qavi after he failed to present himself for the inquiry of the case. Investigation officer Noor Akbar of the case submitted a plea before the judge who then ordered for the issuance of the warrant to the Police for arrest the cleric in order to produce him in the court.
While speaking to local media Qavi said that he has already acquired interim bail in the murder case and that he is available for the investigations.
In Ramadan of 2016, Qandeel Baloch took social media by storm after she posted three pictures with Qavi in a hotel room. In one the posted pictures Qandeel was seen wearing the cleric’s hat and another picture shows Qandeel posing with Mufti Qavi, sitting next to him.

Qandeel also claimed that Mufti Qavi had been convincing her to meet him for quite some time and that the cleric had publically professed his likeness for her. Following these pictures Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf suspended Qavi from the National Ulema Mushaikh Council.
“Qavi will not be allowed to attend meetings of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and National Ulema Mushaikh Council until further orders. Mufti Qavi’s fate will be decided after the opinion of the National Ulema Mushaikh Council regarding his selfies and behavior,” spokesman of the ministry.
Qandeel Baloch was murdered by her brother on July 15th, 2016 in an honor killing case. Apart from her brother Mufti Qavi was the other prime suspect.
