It is matter of satisfaction that despite a number of challenges, the democratic Government has succeeded in taking a number of concrete measures during last two years for the welfare of workers.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's vision of happy and prosperous Pakistan cannot be achieved unless workers are satisfied. Workers are backbone of the economy. Unless their legitimate rights are not protected, expectation of their best output will remain a mirage. Therefore, our Government is giving top priority to the workers welfare and has taken a number of initiatives for their betterment.
Our Government has a vision to transform the lives of our people from one of despair into one of hope and opportunity. We are committed to build a prosperous future for all segments of our society particularly the workers. The present Government is determined to make Pakistan a place, were workers can live with dignity and respect.
Ever since assuming the executive responsibilities, my Government has focused on the well-being of the people with objective to promote the workers' welfare and protect their rights. In this course, the Government has repealed the Industrial Relations Ordinance (IRO 2002) and allowed trade union activities in the country. Moreover, the Government is formulating a new Labour Policy in consonance with the vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to give rightful position to the workers of Pakistan.
The Government has already announced raise in the minimum wages of the labour. We have already made workers share-holders in all the public sector corporations and reinstated thousands of employees in these Corporations who were arbitrarily dismissed from service. Initiation of Benazir Employees Stock Option scheme is another revolutionary step of my Government to empower the workers.
I assure the workers that their Government will make every effort to ensure a better working environment and safe future.
