"Root cause of country's degradation is deviation from the prescribed path of Allah and our expectations from US and other satanic forces," Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan said at the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque. Our people talk of worldly problems, load shedding, gas and price hike but they do not analyse the real cause of all this, he said.
There is dire need of our reverting to Allah at individual as well as collective levels for understanding our problems and for their solutions, he said. He added that JI was organising a week long campaign for "Reverting to Allah" from April 2, with a view of creating realisation among the masses for reforms at individual level and also for playing our role in checking evil trends and forces in the society.
Syed Munawar Hasan said our rulers had great expectations from the US. The Pakistan delegation had reached US with a long list of demands including transfer of civil nuclear technology to this country but the US had rejected that. Actually, Washington was treating us as slaves and wanted us to realise our status.
He said the Pakistani rulers must realise that the US was strategic partner of India and not of Pakistan. At present, US sole concern was that Pakistan army should fight the al Qaeda and Taliban in Afghanistan as well. Since Washington did not trust the civil government, the army chief was included in the delegation for this assurance, he added.
The US, he said, had also refused to mediate between Pakistan and India on Kashmir and water issues. He said those who believed that the Kashmir and water issues with India could be resolved through talks were living in fools' paradise.
He said Pakistan's economy had been destroyed in the US war on terror as this country had wasted 40 billion dollars in this war. In return, Washington was offering us only a few coins as and when it so desired. He said there was nothing in the Pak-US joint communiqué that could be termed as achievement for this country.
