Intensive dredging in the approach channel of both the East and West Wharf and widening/realignment of the navigational channel enabled the KPT to accommodate considerably larger vessels during the period 2008-10. The KPT achieved the 12-meter draft in Karachi Harbour especially in the vicinity of berths nos. 26 to 30 (KICT) at West Wharf and 6 to 9 (PICT) at East Wharf, said a statement Friday.

The KPT further augmented the port facilities and berthing capability was further upgraded to accommodate even larger vessels carrying 5000 to 5500 TEUs.
