Rangers replace FC at Diplomatic Enclave

In the wake of the reservations expressed by diplomatic missions, particularly American and European missions, the government, at 6 am on Saturday, replaced Frontier Constabulary (FC) with Rangers at the Diplomatic Enclave. Besides Islamabad Police, over 450 FC personnel were performing security duty in the diplomatic enclave, but after links of some FC men with terrorists came to light the missions expressed serious reservations over their continued presence in the enclave.
The diplomatic community expressed concerns over the security provided by the FC in the diplomatic enclave and informed the Interior Ministry about their reservations in this regard, sources in Interior Ministry said.
They said that the notification for removal of FC personnel from security duty of diplomatic enclave was consequently issued. FC is being dispatched out of the Federal capital, sources said. The Frontier Constabulary have three barracks at Margalla Road (Khayaban e Iqbal), two barracks in Bari Imam locality on the back side of the Prime Minister House and its headquarters at Ayub Chowk near Marriott Hotel.
