Cocaine dealers in Hong Kong are offering regular customers a dial-a-taxi delivery service to make purchases, a media report said Sunday. The dealers use a network of taxi drivers to sell and deliver the drug for 1,000 Hong Kong dollars per gram (128 dollars) to customers who have contacted them by phone or text message, the Sunday Morning Post said.
After contacting a dealer, the customer is given the registration details of a taxi which picks him up at a prearranged location. The customer is then dropped off a short distance away after completing the transaction.
"Sometimes there would be a person sitting in the passenger seat of the taxi. Obviously this was in case it got nasty. I'm sure they'd be ready for it if that was to happen," one customer told the paper. Police confirmed they were aware of the taxi issue, monitoring the situation and acting on information.
