Centre for the disabled in Bajaur Agency inaugurated

The government has opened centre for disabled persons to prepare artificial limbs for them at Agency's Headquarters Khar in Bajaur Agency. The centre was inaugurated by Additional Political Agent, Asif Ali Farruk, which will prepare special apparatus for the disabled while special technicians for the purpose have also been hired.
Speaking on the occasion after distributing wheel chairs and cycles provided by the federal government among 500 disabled children at Khar, the Political Agent said the government was committed to provide better facilities to disabled persons to bring them into the national mainstream. Special focus is being given on the provision of basic amenities of life to them at their doorsteps, he maintained.
He further said special projects and centres have been started in Bajaur Agency so that disabled persons could get (avail) these nearest to their homes to minimise their difficulties. The government, he said, was endeavouring to equip tribal children with technical education.
He urged the tribal people to get full advantage of the facilities provided to them by the government. He said that peace is vital for development and sought help of the tribesmen to help maintain durable peace in the agency.
