The judicial crisis in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) turned a new twist on Sunday, when President AJK restored the dysfunctional Chief Justice of AJK Supreme Court, Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry, who was made dis-functional a day earlier by the Acting President AJK after a reference was filed against him on the grounds of misconduct and gross violations of constitution.
However, Prime Minister AJK termed the decision as unconstitutional, a private TV channel reported. According to the channel, President AJK restored the CJ after having a meeting with legal experts on the issue.
The Prime Minister argued that the President couldn't issue order regarding the restoration of Chief Justice without Prime Minister's consent. He said that the Chief Justice has been made dysfunctional after a reference was filed against him in the Supreme Judicial Council and he can only be restored on the recommendation of the Prime Minister or the Council.
