PPP CEC pays tributes to Z A Bhutto

Central Executive Committee (CEC), Pakistan People's Party (PPP), which met here on Saturday evening on the eve of 31st death anniversary of the party's foundering chairman Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, paid glowing tributes to him for his services.
The meeting specially mentioned Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto's services to the down-trodden masses, his party's struggle against four dictatorships, pioneering of the country's nuclear programme, uniting the Muslim world, giving an enduring
Constitution to the country and sacrificing his life in this struggle.
Co-chairman PPP, President Asif Ali Zardari presided over the meeting.
The meeting was attended by 54 members of the CEC. Among them were party Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah.
Resolutions passed at the meeting said the meeting pays rich tribute to PPP's founder-chairman Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who founded a party, which is a unique political party in the world in the sense of its struggle and indelible sacrifices. This party faced four dictators in its 40-years' life and each time emerged successful. It waged a relentless struggle for democracy, the resolution further observed.
The resolutions further noted that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave a Constitution to the country, made the country a nuclear power, united the Muslim world, set up a multitude of educational institutions in the country, opened the doors of politics for the down-trodden and trampled segments and took several steps to raise the living standard of people and empower them. He carved such a loving relationship with the masses that he offered the sacrifice of his life for achievement of their rights.
PPP CEC resolution further said today's meeting of CEC also pays rich tributes to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who kept the Party intact after the martyrdom of Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto, gave strength to the party, countered enemies within and outside the party, bore exile, fought against dictators and sacrificed her life to establish democracy for the people.
It further said today's meeting of the Party's CEC resposes complete confidence in PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and believes that he will play an important role in bringing the younger generation to the Party-fold.
Another resolution passed at the meeting of PPP's CEC said the points raised by CEC members during the moot have a big significance and the concepts forwarded therein are presented in the form of a resolution.
The CEC meeting felicitates PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on the successes achieved during his two years of tenure, it further said. He (Asif Zardari) performed such important deeds as giving a consensus National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan package, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme, autonomy to Gilgit-Baltistan, restoration of the rights of smaller provinces, re-settlement of the rapidly sagging economic condition of the country and gained advances in the world's biggest war against terrorism.
Today's meeting expresses its determination that it will not allow the holding of a trial of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto nor it will allow a trial of Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
The meeting expresses determination that whatever occurs PPP's workers and leaders will not allow steps against restoration of democracy and against its leaders.
Today's CEC meeting authorises Co-chairman of PPP to re-organise the party in accordance with the wishes of party workers.
Today's meeting felicitates Co-chairman of the Party for bringing about a consensus of all the political parties on the proposed 18th Constitutional Amendment, the resolution continued.
The resolution noted that today PPP's Co-chairman is the symbol of the federation. "We pay tribute to his leadership qualities and sagacity," it said.
It further said today's meeting of the Party's CEC suggests to the Co-chairman to form a committee of the party comprising its leaders for the purpose of interaction with other parties and co-ordinating at local and national level and this committee should send its proposals to the Co-chairman.
Today's meeting proposes that the proposals should be conveyed to the lower circles of the party through its provincial regional and district organisations.
Today's meeting demands PPP to accelerate its membership drive and committees should be formed comprising party workers, office bearers, MNAs and MPs.
