Our youth

05 Apr, 2010

A person comes in the world with so many dreams and aims. Obviously, he wants to make all these true, starts study and thinks that it is the first step to complete all those dreams that he has been dreaming since his childhood. With the passage of time, he becomes eager about her/his dreams and decides to become a doctor or engineer etc. In the process, he faces many problems and difficulties, but in spite this, he still works hard to do so and fulfil his promise/achieve his desires.
When his aim is nearest to complete, his mind changes and he starts to think about to go abroad for higher studies to make his future bright. Did we ever think why Pakistan is still struggling after 63 years of independence? Why new generation is not agree to serve their own country, as they have seen the result of selfless services of their beloved heroes like Khan Liaquat Ali Khan and Hakim Said and condition of the country?
Moreover, the parents already decide about the future of their child that their wards would be a doctor, engineer or whatever, without knowing their aptitude and field of interest.
As a s result, our youth is afraid of becoming an engineer, doctor or scientist. Look at the treatment meted out to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who made Pakistan an atomic power. He is loyal to Pakistan and to the nation, but what the nation did to him. A girl of our country is afraid to become a doctor due to a very horrible condition of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. I have no words to say about her miserable condition.
It is time that our youth should not be disheartened as their talent would not go waste. Besides, the government should learn a lesson from our past mistakes and save the country from brain drain.
